No versions of Internet Explorer on Macintosh are supported. Mac Safari browser users may experience poor performance on portions of MLB.com that utilize plug-in technology such as Windows Media Player or Flash Player. This performance is not specific to MLB.com but to all websites that use plug-in technologies.
AOL Users:
AOL Version 9 is also supported. However, please note that running the AOL environment may consume a substantial amount of the computer's memory and processor and therefore potentially effecting performance. MLB.com does not support AOL versions earlier than Version 9.
Other General Settings:
- JavaScript turned ON - this is the standard setting for all browsers. The site will not work if JavaScript is turned off.
- Cookies enabled - this is the standard setting for all browsers. If cookies are disabled, you may experience difficulties viewing certain content.
- Pop-up blocker turned off - some applications, such as the Media Player and MLB.com Gameday are launched in a separate pop-up window. You may not be able to launch these applications properly if you have pop-up blocker turned on.
3. Media Player Requirements
Video:
MLB.TV, MLB.TV Premium, Condensed Games, Extended Highlights, and all other products come in WMV format and run on Windows Media Player version 9 or higher or on MLB.com via the Microsoft Silverlight player. Flash Player 9 or above is required. As of October 2007, users can choose to download the Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 or above plug-in for enhanced video experience. The plug-in runs on
selected operating systems and browser platforms. It is a free one-time download similar to other web plug-ins. Along with the normal player plug-ins, the MLB.TV NexDef plug-in is required for consumption of the 1.2MB TV-quality video streams.
Audio:
MLB.com Gameday Audio, MLB Radio, and all other audio products come in WMA format and run on Windows Media Player version 9.0 or below or the Microsoft Silverlight Player. Audio content older than 2 years will play in the native player. Flash Player 9 or above is required.
Recommended Browsers:
While the Media Player will run on most browsers, we urge that you use one of the following browsers to achieve the best performance. If you are limited to using a browser that is not listed here, please make sure to test out the Media Player before purchasing a subscription. We do not provide support for browsers that are not listed below.
| PC |
Internet Explorer 6.0 or above, FireFox 2.x, IE 6 on AOL 9 |
| Mac |
Firefox 2.x, Safari 3.0 or above |
4. MLB.com Gameday Requirements
MLB.com Gameday will work on most browsers with Flash Player 9 or higher installed. It is recommended that your connection speed is higher than 512 Kbps (Low-end DSL or above). Internet Explorer:
