Umpires to host camp
The third annual Major League Baseball Umpire Camp, which proudly has 16 alums from the past two years currently working in the Minor Leagues, is scheduled for Nov. 9-16 in the Los Angeles area. Featuring a staff that includes well-known former MLB umpires, as well as current active supervisors, the camp is geared for all levels of experience and scholarships will again be offered.  Full story >

Umpires give kids a 'bear'-y happy day
Major League umpires Wally Bell, Laz Diaz and Mike Winters visited Phoenix Children's Hospital on April 29, giving away stuffed animals as part of the umpires' BLUE for Kids charity. Most of the pediatric patients were too young to know who the umpires were, but the crew was happy to be known simply by the blue polo shirts they wore and the Build-A-Bear Workshop bears they gave away. Full story >
