Angels Baseball, the Boys & Girls Clubs in Orange County and Major League Baseball partnered together to create the Angels Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) League.
This youth program provides an opportunity for 12 to 18-year-olds to play the game of baseball and softball while learning important character and life skills. To date, the league has served over 6,500 youth who would not have otherwise had the opportunity to play. RBI concentrates on fundamentals and teamwork, while stressing citizenship and academics. The goal is to provide every participant with a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness and empowerment in their own lives.
Each season the Angels RBI League provides a structured league format which includes a 10 game regular season; an on field instructional clinic at Angel Stadium with professional coaches, players and trainers; an end of season playoff tournament; an all-star team opportunity; and an end of season banquet hosted at Angel Stadium.
Each participant receives a full uniform for use during the season and access to any equipment needed. Transportation is provided by the individual Boys & Girls Clubs participating in the league. Each team is coached by a professional Boys & Girls Club staff member and/or trained volunteer. Players are encouraged to participate, not based on skill, but on willingness to grow and enjoy the sport of baseball and softball.
Sportsmanship, respect, fair play, and love for the game are emphasized in every aspect of the Angels RBI League. Players, coaches, and volunteers are trained in SportSMART, a Boys & Girls Clubs of America prevention program designed to give kids the skills to make wise choices in the areas of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use. If your looking for a fun and positive league to play in, this is the one for you!
The Angels RBI League is broken down into four divisions:
Baseball - Senior Boys 16-18 yrs. - Junior Boys 12-15 yrs.
Softball - Senior Girls 16-18 yrs. - Junior Girls 12-15 yrs.
