SunTrust Park Transportation - Pedestrian

From investments in existing infrastructure to new bridges and multi-use pathways, SunTrust Park and The Battery Atlanta will be accessible from all directions for all fans to safely walk to the ballpark.

SUNTRUST PARK AND THE BATTERY ATLANTA FEATURE A VASTLY IMPROVED PEDESTRIAN EXPERIENCE THAN TURNER FIELD, OFFERING SAFE, DEDICATED SIDEWALKS, WALKWAYS AND BRIDGES THAT REMOVE PEDESTRIANS FROM THE ROADWAYS AND CONNECT THEM TO THE DEVELOPMENT. THE CUMBERLAND DISTRICT, LONG SEPARATED BY TWO MAJOR HIGHWAYS, WILL NOW BE CONNECTED THANKS TO THESE NEW INVESTMENTS.

Pedestrian Bridges

The most visible investments are new pedestrian bridges that will enable fans to reach the development from areas previously cut off by major roadways:

Better Connectivity

Bike Trail

SunTrust Park and The Battery Atlanta will seamlessly integrate into the entire Cumberland area, with improvements that will connect a region that was previously divided by two major highways. These include:

  • The Akers Mill Trail links the Silver Comet Trail to the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, offering pedestrian and bicycle access throughout Cumberland.
  • The Braves plan to build several multi-use walkways around SunTrust Park to link to various regional trails in the Cumberland area.

Connected Communities

Other enhancements that best serve the parking along the corridor will be pursued as well, including wider sidewalks and additional pedestrian crosswalks. All this fits into several studies which showcase the benefits of Cumberland being a walkable, pedestrian-friendly district.
