Remembering Mike Flanagan

The Orioles and all of us will miss Mike Flanagan, who spent more than 20 years with the club as a Cy Young Award-winning pitcher, coach, executive and broadcaster.

Prior to the Aug. 26th game vs. the Yankees, the Orioles had a moment of silence in Flanagan's memory, and his uniform number 46 was posted on the out-of-town scoreboard in right field during the game. Click on the video below to watch the tribute that was played on the Oriole Park video board.

Details on how the Orioles honored Flanny during the remainder of the 2011 season:
  • The Orioles flag on the right field flag court at Camden Yards was flown at half staff.
  • Orioles uniformed personnel wore a black circular patch with "FLANNY" written in white on their right jersey sleeves.
  • A black banner with the number "46" in orange was installed between the second and third levels behind home plate, below the booth where Flanagan sat as a member of the MASN broadcast team.
  • The Orioles have also set up a virtual guest book at, and invite fans to share their condolences and memories of Flanagan.
