This Limited Edition Bronze Sculpture of Ernie Banks is an exact replica of the original larger-than-life sculpture at Wrigley Field. This replica, just as the original, is sculpted by hand in clay and cast in Bronze by Sculptor Lou Cella from The Fine Art Studio of Rotblatt Amrany. No two pieces are exactly alike because each one will be worked by hand by both the Foundry Artisans and Sculptor Lou Cella. This will individualize each piece and ensure 100% quality.
Each of these Sculptures is a true unique piece of art. The Sculpture stands approximately 25" high from the bottom of the base to the top of the bat. The figure is 18 ½ inches high and stands on a marble base. This is a limited edition piece.
Like the original full size sculpture this process begins by being sculpted by hand in clay. A rubber mold is then applied to the clay. Once the rubber has cured another mold is made to coat the rubber. Seams are left in both the plaster and rubber. When dry they are removed and sent to an Artists Foundry. Molten wax is then brushed inside the mold until it is at least ¼" thick all the way around. Once the wax has cooled it is removed from the mold leaving the wax statue of Ernie Banks. This is now taken in sections and gated up with wax rods. The sections are dipped in heat resistant composite called "slurry" which is the final mold. When it has hardened this mold will be heated to melt the wax inside and allow it to run out (the lost wax process). When the wax has run out the molten bronze is poured in. After the bronze has cooled the "slurry" is sand blasted away leaving the bronze sections to be welded together. When the piece is assembled the welded sections are chased leaving a bronze sculpture of Ernie Banks. For coloration an acid patina is applied to the bronze. This is basically how bronze sculpture has been created for the last 3,000 years. From the Ancient Greeks to Auguste Rodin to Michael Jordan and now "Mr. Cub", Ernie Banks.
The cost for this sculpture is $5000.00.
Also Available, a smaller version of the original sculpture.
The Ernie Banks figurine is an exact replica of the larger-than-life bronze sculpture of Mr. Cub standing outside of Wrigley Field. The piece stands approximately one foot high form the bottom of the base to the top of bat. It is made entirely of cold cast resin and has been given a bronze finish. It was sculpted by Lou Cella of the Rotblatt/Amrany Fine Art Studio. The same studio which created the large Ernie and the sculpture of Harry Caray at Wrigley.
The Cost for this replica is $200.00.
