Rockies realign baseball operations department 09/14/2011 6:11 PM ETMLB.com
DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has realigned responsibilities among several staff members within the Baseball Operations department. "We have a deep group of talented, highly motivated individuals and as such we are always looking for opportunities to maximize all of their skills," said Rockies Executive Vice President and General Manager Dan O'Dowd. "We see this as an opportunity to continue to develop and improve as an organization." Marc Gustafson has been named Senior Director of Scouting Operations. Gustafson, 42, has served as the Rockies Senior Director of Player Development for the past for two seasons and has managed the operation of the Rockies player development system for the past six years. Jeff Bridich, formerly the Rockies Senior Director of Baseball Operations, will step into the role of Senior Director of Player Development. Bridich, 34, who joined the Rockies organization in 2004, will be assisted in his new role by Zach Wilson. Wilson, 33, has been a member of the Rockies Scouting Department for the past nine years including 2011 season as the Assistant Director of Scouting. Walker Monfort, 24, has been given added responsibilities within the player development department. Walter Sylvester, 41, moves from his role in player development to a Baseball Operations Assistant position where he will have responsibilities in statistical analysis and the First Year Player Draft. Zack Rosenthal, 31, has been promoted to Manager of Baseball Operations/Assistant General Counsel and will have the added duties of player contract negotiations and rules administration.
