Brewers sign 20 draft picks including 2009 first round draft pick RHP Eric Arnett06/14/2009 11:36 AM ET

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers have signed 20 of its draft picks from the 2009 First Year Player draft including RHP Eric Arnett, their First-Round selection, it was announced today by Director of Amateur Scouting, Bruce Seid. The group of signees includes five players that were drafted in the top 10 rounds.
Arnett, 21, was the 26th overall selection in the 2009 First Year Player Draft and recently finished his junior season at Indiana University. Arnett posted a 12-2 record with a 2.50 ERA and 109 strikeouts on the season. He tied school single-season records in wins and strikeouts. He was named second team All-America by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and is one of five finalists for the College Baseball Foundation's National Pitcher of the Year. He became the first pitcher in school history to be named Big Ten Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2009.
"We are thrilled to have Eric signed so quickly," said Seid. "This shows how committed he is to our organization, he will gain very valuable experience in getting in early and playing regularly on the professional level."
Arnett is a native of Pataskala, Ohio and graduated Watkins Memorial HS where he lettered in baseball four years. He was named all-conference and all-county in each of his final three years of high school in baseball. Arnett also earned three all-conference selections in football and two in basketball. He is the son of Bill and Robin Arnett and has one brother, Thomas, and a sister, Sarah.
Overall, the Brewers have 20 of their 53 draft picks signed. In addition, the Brewers signed two undrafted players to contracts. Signed players have been assigned either to the Helena Brewers (Mont.) of the Pioneer Rookie League or the Arizona Brewers of the Arizona Rookie League. A mini-camp will be held in each location beginning on June 16. The Arizona Brewers begin their season on Sunday, June 21 while the Helena Brewers will begin their season on Tuesday, June 23.
