ST. LOUIS -- Umpire Ed Rapuano, 47, working left field in Thursday night's Game 2 of the National League Championship Series at Busch Stadium, was taken out in the middle of the second inning due to dizziness.
The 12-year veteran, in his third NLCS, was examined by doctors at the ballpark and reportedly was resting. It wasn't known if Rapuano would return to the field.
Other umpires working the game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Houston Astros are Eric Cooper (home), Gary Darling (first), Mike Winters (second), Angel Hernandez (third) and Tim Welke (right field).
Rapuno resides in Boca Raton, Fla., and served in his first Major League game in 1991.
