Raul Ibañez of the Philadelphia Phillies named the National League Player of the Week presented by Bank of America

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Raul Ibañez, who led the Majors with 26 total bases last week, has been named National League Player of the Week presented by Bank of America for the period ending May 17th. Ibañez tied for the National League lead with 12 RBI and nine runs scored, and tied for second in the N.L. with four home runs and 13 hits. The 36-year-old veteran hit .481 (13-27) while posting a .963 slugging percentage and a .576 on-base percentage. In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader at Washington, Raul connected for two home runs and recorded four RBI. In the second game of the twin-bill, Ibañez went deep again for a three-run shot. In the series as a whole, Raul batted .500 (9-18) with three home runs and nine RBI. Ibañez (.357, 13 HR, 35 RBI, 4 SB, .425 OBP, .714 SLG) finished with four multi-RBI games and four multi-hit games last week. This is Raul's fifth career weekly award and his first in the N.L.

Tourneau, the world's largest watch store, will award Raul Ibañez with a luxury Swiss Timepiece, suitably engraved, in recognition of his accomplishment as the National League Player of the Week presented by Bank of America.
