St. Louis Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday has been named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week for the period of June 14-20, 2010. Bank of America, the Official Bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the National League and American League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect Bank of America's long-standing tradition of promoting and recognizing higher standards of accomplishment.

Holliday hit .435 (10-23) in six games last week and led the Majors with a 1.000 slugging percentage, while his four home runs and 23 total bases both tied for first. The Oklahoma native was tied for second in the N.L. with eight RBI and 10 hits and was among league leaders with a .480 on-base percentage and six runs scored. Batting second in the lineup for the first time in his career, the right-handed slugger went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored on Monday, June 14th, as the Cardinals defeated visiting Seattle 9-3. Holliday sizzled through the weekend's Interleague series with his former club, the Oakland Athletics, by going 8-for-12 (.667) with a double, four homers and eight RBI and helping the Redbirds take two out of three. Holliday crushed two homers on Sunday, the first multi-homer performance of the resurgent slugger's 2010 season. This marks Holliday's sixth career weekly award, the most recent being for period of April 7-13, 2008, when he was a member of the Colorado Rockies.
