Atlanta Braves infielder Omar Infante has been named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week for the period of August 16-22, 2010. Bank of America, the Official Bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the National League and American League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect Bank of America's long-standing tradition of promoting and recognizing higher standards of accomplishment.

In seven games last week, Infante hit .433 (13-30), good for third in National League, while leading the Majors with nine runs scored and 27 total bases. The 28-year-old veteran's .900 slugging percentage was tops in the N.L. while his three home runs were tied for the league lead. Infante was also among N.L. leaders with a .485 on-base percentage and recorded two triples and a stolen base. The versatile Venezuelan collected hits in every game this week, including four multi-hit performances, and has now hit safely in 11 consecutive games.

Infante, a first-time All-Star this year, tied a career-best with four hits and four RBI on Sunday, August 22nd, while clubbing two homers in 16-5 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
