When I heard 2008 Spectrum was coming out, I really didn't think too much of it. Last year's Spectrum was an OK release. It was highlighted by a bunch of celebrity autographs and cool-looking jersey cards. On the other hand, Upper Deck had promised to make this a better box this year, so I was kind of excited to see how the product changed.
20 packs per box, five cards per pack
My box of 2008 Spectrum
I consider my box a major success. Here are the highlights:
I finished 70 percent of the base set (70/100)
If my box is like the rest, then this is one of my favorite releases of the year. I had big hits in six of the 20 packs I opened. So, on average, you can walk into a hobby shop and take your chances -- buy three packs for $20, and the odds say you will most likely have a big hit.
I was very pleasantly surprised with this release after last year's so-so product. I really wasn't expecting much, but I was blown away with the feeling of opening a very high-end product. Hopefully, this wasn't a loaded box and that there are more like this out there. If there are, this product probably isn't going to sit on the shelves very long!
