Rays, Centerplate announce new and improved concessions and merchandise at Tropicana Field for 201103/25/2011 1:31 PM ET
The Rays, in partnership with Tropicana Field's hospitality partner, Centerplate, are excited to introduce several new and improved menu and retail merchandise offerings throughout the ballpark for the 2011 season. These improvements build off the success of several returning favorites, including the signature Cuban Sandwich and the Fan vs. Food Challenge, recently rated the "#1 Thing Every Floridian Should Try in 2011" by Metromix Tampa Bay. Visit the Brewhouse and watch fans take on a 2-pound burger piled sky-high with four 8oz. patties, sixteen slices of bacon, four slices of cheese on a bun, plus a pound of french fries!
Improvements for 2011 include new menu items and concession stands, renovations and improvements to the center field restaurant areas, and the addition of authentic game-used merchandise in the main team store located near Gate 1. These new features are the result of extensive fan surveys and focus groups conducted by the team, with the goal of creating a superior dining and entertainment experience for all fans.
Below are some of the changes coming to Tropicana Field for 2011:
Everglades BBQ Company
The Batter's Eye Restaurant in center field is now the Everglades BBQ Smokehouse. This family-style restaurant will feature traditional barbecue, smoked fresh daily in on-site smokers and served with a choice of signature sauces. The menu includes favorites such as pulled pork, ribs, chicken, wings, corn on the cob, natural-cut potato wedges, and an extensive salad bar. The Smokehouse will also be home to the Rays Radio pre-and postgame shows, featuring Rays broadcaster Rich Herrera, allowing fans to enjoy top-notch barbecue while being part of the audience during a live radio broadcast.
The restaurant is located in the former location of the Batter's Eye Restaurant, overlooking center field with a unique birds-eye view of the field. It is accessible via the escalator located just inside the main rotunda entrance to Tropicana Field. The restaurant will open two hours prior to game time and remain open through the conclusion of the postgame show. Reservations for parties of six or more can be made by calling (727) 825-3378. Everglades BBQ will also be served at take-out locations in the first base food court and Right Field Street.
Rays fans' favorite pregame destination for food and drinks will take on a fresh new look and an updated menu of food and beverages, including a selection of local craft beers. The sports-themed bar will feature pregame entertainment and a fun, social atmosphere. The Brewhouse will open two hours prior to game time and is located in Center Field Street, a short distance from the ballpark's main rotunda entrance at Gate 1.
Game Used Merchandise
The Rays now offer authenticated game-used, worn, and/or signed items from Rays players. These one- of-a-kind items are located at the Rays main team store at Tropicana Field. All items are authenticated by Major League Baseball.
Burger Up! features four signature fresh ground burgers, the Cuban Burger, Mushroom Swiss, Bacon Blue and the Old Fashioned. Come to the First Base Food Court and try these delicious homemade burgers served on a corn-dusted Kaiser bun with natural cut fries.
GF! Gluten Free Ballpark Favorites
This new stand in Center Field Street will feature gluten free versions of traditional ballpark favorites like hot dogs, pretzels, and beer. One in 133 Americans are allergic to gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley.
Wings Around the World
A new stand located in Center Field Street will offer boneless chicken wings with a large selection of special sauces, including buffalo, golden barbecue, sweet red chili and cajun.
