Arlington, Texas -- It's a relationship that's been in place as long as Major League Baseball has existed in North Texas, and the partnership will continue.

The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has entered into a five-year extension of its sponsorship agreement with the Dr Pepper Snapple Group through 2013. The deal extends a partnership which began in the Rangers first season in Texas in 1972.

"The Rangers and Dr Pepper have enjoyed an excellent relationship over the past 36 years," commented team President Nolan Ryan. "They have been one of our most loyal sponsors, and we are thrilled to be able to continue the partnership for another five years."

"Dr Pepper and the Texas Rangers are the perfect combination," said Craig Musser, Vice President-Field Marketing and Sponsorships for the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. "We're proud of the 36-year relationship we have had with the Rangers since the inaugural year in Arlington, April 6, 1972, and we are looking forward to our ongoing partnership."

Based in Plano, Texas, the Dr Pepper Snapple Group markets more than 50 beverage brands to consumers throughout North America. In addition to its flagship Dr Pepper and Snapple brands, the company's portfolio includes 7UP, Mott's, A&W, Sunkist Soda, Hawaiian Punch, Canada Dry, Schweppes, Squirt, RC Cola, Diet Rite, Penafiel, Rose's, Yoo-hoo, Clamato, Mr & Mrs T, and other well-known consumer favorites. The sponsorship with the Rangers contains significant signage elements in the seating bowl and concourses at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington as well as a number of other promotional elements.

Dr Pepper will continue as the presenting sponsor of the popular Dr Pepper Junior Rangers program and as the title sponsor of Rangers Autograph Wednesdays. In its role as an active community partner, the company also is a long-time sponsor of the Sluggers of the West Awards Dinner and the Rangers Legacy Weekend Alumni Hall of Fame Luncheon, both of which benefit the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. Dr Pepper will also sponsor a series of youth clinics each year in conjunction with the Rangers.

In addition to Dr Pepper and Diet Dr Pepper, Snapple and Venom products will also be sold at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington in 2009
