Blue Jays mourn the loss of Lidle
10/11/2006 7:35 PM ET

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS join with our friends across MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL in mourning the passing of pitcher CORY LIDLE today in New York. LIDLE spent one season with the BLUE JAYS, pitching to a 12-15 record with a 5.75 ERA for TORONTO in the 2003 campaign.

PAUL GODFREY, the Club's President & Chief Executive Officer, says, "The Blue Jays mourn the loss of our friend CORY LIDLE and extend our sincere sympathies to his family, friends and teammates in the time of this tremendous loss. It's stunning and truly tragic that a player who was competing in the playoffs just a few short days ago has left us."

J.P. RICCIARDI, Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations & General Manager, says, "I knew CORY well from the time he spent with the A's in Oakland and, of course, when he came to join us in TORONTO. I am numb with today's tragic news. My sympathies go out to his entire family and especially his young son."
