Lance Lynn celebrates his rookie season as a dad

While Lance Lynn is savoring every moment of his first season as a starting pitcher, he's also relishing his first season as a father.

Lance and his wife, Lauren, welcomed Mia Lynn into the world during Spring Training.

As it turns out, Mia was expected to make her debut appearance the same day as the Cardinals' first Spring Training workout. Instead of Lance flying back and forth between Jupiter, Fla., and Portland, Ore., the family decided to pack up and make the trek south together.

"If I went into labor, he might have missed it," said Lauren. "And we didnt want that to happen. So it was kind of a last-minute decision, but we loaded up the car with our whole life and our dogs -- while eight months pregnant -- and drove to Florida."

The road trip lasted almost five days and accounted for 50 hours in the car, but the Lynns would have it no other way.

For Lance, sharing his first Father's Day as a dad with his teammates was something special.

"You always dream of being a father," he said. "And then your first Fathers Day, it's pretty sweet. Just to be able to enjoy it, especially with all the other guys enjoying it with their families. It's fun to be a part of and kind of makes you feel a little bit like a grown-up."
