Have you ever thought to yourself “Hey Bryce Harper, what’s with the hair?” or “Dude, Bryce, why does your helmet go flying every time you run the bases?”
Agonize over your unanswered questions no longer.
Those queries, and more, will be answered Tuesday night when ESPN premieres “Bryce Begins,” an hour-long film documenting the rise of one of baseball's up and coming stars.
Full disclosure – since the cameras have been following Harper’s journey for several years now, those pressing questions were probably left on the editing room floor in favor of detailing the scrutiny and tribulations the 20-year-old has endured since being dubbed “Baseball’s Chosen One” at age 16.
There’s no doubt it’s going to be an eye-opening experience. Harper, the 2012 N.L. Rookie of the Year, is number five all-time in WAR for position players aged 18-20, so the numbers back the hype.
Please don’t tell Hawk Harrelson I was using sabermetrics.
But do tune in to ESPN April 30 at 9 p.m. EST to check out “Bryce Begins.”
