After a successful 18-year career in the Majors, former All-Star pitcher Mike Mussina returned home to Montoursville, Pennsylvania. While most people would spend their free time in retirement relaxing, Mussina instead decided to focus on another sport he loves: basketball.
Mussina recently accepted the position of varsity boys basketball coach at Montoursville Area High School for a stipend of $4,170. To put that into perspective, in Mussina’s final season, he made approximately $325,618 per game. Mussina, however, is not doing it for the money, but instead to generate interest around the program.
Whereas Mussina once tried to avoid surrendering doubles, he now looks forward to helping his team score double-doubles!
