VP, Marketing & Strategy
Kathleen Harrington Clark was named the club's Vice President of Marketing & Strategy on March 5, 2012. In her role, Kathleen oversees the club's marketing and strategy initiatives and also oversees the following departments: public relations, media relations, broadcasting, brand and marketing services, in-game entertainment, digital media and fan engagement, the Astros in Action Foundation and community services.
Kathleen has over 25 years of marketing and branding experience. During her career she has excelled in linking business and marketing strategies to drive revenue and business success. She also has a special focus on internal employee communications, which allows her employees to be part of each stage of the marketing process. Immediately prior to joining the Astros, Kathleen was working as a leading marketing consultant, assisting companies seeking to drive revenue through integrated marketing strategies. Kathleen worked with global Fortune 500, mid-sized companies and start-ups to develop strategies that included brand and product management with an emphasis on online message delivery. She has experience in the healthcare, high technology, energy, real estate, and consumer packaged goods markets.
With an MBA from Harvard Business School, Kathleen is viewed as a marketing leader who possesses both people and organizational skills. Her career includes senior leadership positions with Compaq and two start-up organizations, serving as an officer for both start-ups.
During her eight years at Compaq, Kathleen's work spanned all facets of marketing. This included global management of the product development process, a role in which she was instrumental in establishing Compaq as a leader in handheld technology. She also served as Compaq's North American advertising director, managing brand and product advertising for the $10 billion company's consumer and business-to-business product lines. Utilizing a New York-based advertising agency for Compaq, she created national advertising campaigns in broadcast, print, radio and online media with budgets in excess of $100 million.
More recently, Kathleen served as the principal of Carta Marketing Strategy and Solutions, a marketing consulting firm whose focus is to provide out-sourced Chief Marketing Officers to Fortune 500, mid-sized and startup firms. In 2008, she completed a year-long project developing marketing plans for Reliant Energy's consumer electricity business in the Texas market. During 2010, she led the launch of a new project management software company, Onit, LLC. She has also worked extensively for St. Luke's Episcopal Health System, Texas Children's Hospital and The Baylor College of Medicine.
An avid baseball fan, Kathleen and her husband, Andrew, have two daughters, Caroline and Paige.
