Director, Research and Development
Mike Fast joined the Astros in February 2012 and was named Director of Research and Development in October 2015. In his role, Mike leads the operation of the Astros analytical group and sets the vision for the application of information within baseball operations. He assists with player evaluations and player transactions.
Prior to joining the Astros, Mike was an author for Baseball Prospectus, where he developed a large following and a reputation as a statistical expert, conducting several unique, in-depth studies. He was previously an author for The Hardball Times and MVN.com.
Mike also worked for 17 years as a semiconductor engineer, most recently with Advanced Micro Devices. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in engineering physics, Mike and his wife, Lori, reside in Kingwood, Texas, with their four children: Madeleine, Zachary, Amelie, and Analise.
