Mike Fast joined the Astros on February 1, 2012, after a successful two-year run as a writer for Baseball Prospectus. In his role with the Astros, he works with Sig Mejdal in the baseball operations department. Mike is an expert in new technologies used for tracking pitched and batted balls, including PITCHf/x.
During his time at Baseball Prospectus, Mike quickly developed a large following and a reputation as a statistical expert, conducting several unique, in-depth studies. Prior to his time at Baseball Prospectus, he was an author for Hardball Times from 2008-09.
Mike also worked for 17 years as a semiconductor engineer, most recently with Advanced Micro Devices from 2006-12. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in engineering physics, Mike and his wife, Lori, reside in Houston, TX with their four children.
