Senior Manager, Media Relations
Steve Grande (@AstrosGrande) was hired to the Astros organization in 2008 and was promoted from manager to senior manager in June 2016.
In addition to his day-to-day media relations duties, Grande is responsible for coordinating front office, manager, coach, and player interview and photo requests, producing the Astros media guide, overseeing the production of the department’s baseball information, reviewing all season credential requests, overseeing the club’s photographers, and securing media relations collateral. He is also the media and scheduling coordinator for the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic and the Houston Winter Invitational.
Grande travels on the majority of the club’s road trips and has traveled on select road trips in each of his full-time seasons. He has worked nine Spring Trainings, two playoff series (2015 ALDS, 2010 NLCS) and the 2015 AL Wild Card Game. Additionally, he helped plan and coordinate the media aspects of MLB’s 2012 and 2013 Urban Invitational in Houston.
Prior to joining the Astros full-time in 2008, Grande split his 2007 season interning in the Media Relations departments for the then Florida Marlins and the Astros.
Grande also has experience outside the sports industry while working at two different public relations entities, both based out of Austin, Texas. In 2006, Grande got his professional start as an intern with BookPros Publishing Company in their publicity department. He moved on to intern for the public relations agency GCI Read-Poland in their public affairs department before leaving to pursue a career in sports.
Grande received his bachelor’s degree in public relations with a minor in business from Texas State University-San Marcos in May of 2006. A native of Tomball, Texas, Grande graduated from Klein Oak High School in Spring. He resides in Houston’s Cottage Grove.
