Director, Team Travel
Barry Waters has overseen all aspects of Astros travel and accommodations across the country since 1985, making him one of the longest-tenured at his position in all of baseball.
In January of 2011, Barry was honored by the Houston Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America with the Fred Hartman Award, which recognizes long and meritorious service to baseball.
Recognized as one of the best in his field, Barry was selected to lead the Major League Baseball All-Star tour of Japan following the 1996 season. His peers voted him Traveling Secretary of the Year in 1992.
Barry was named the club's traveling secretary on an interim basis in July of 1986 before being named to the post on a full-time basis in September of that year. His role was expanded in 1993 when he was named director of baseball administration with duties that include overseeing budget and administration.
A native of Ashland, Mass., Barry joined the organization in 1980 and filled several positions before being named traveling secretary. He also worked for the Los Angeles Dodgers for one year before joining the Astros.
Barry has two children, Colin and Claudia. He and his wife, Heather, live in Houston.
