In honor of Hall of Fame legend Roberto Clemente â who died on New Year's Eve 1972 during a humanitarian mission to assist earthquake victims in Nicaragua â Major League Baseball and all 30 Clubs annually commemorate Roberto Clemente Day. This initiative pays tribute to Clemente's lasting legacy and recognizes players who best represent the game of baseball through sportsmanship, community involvement and positive contributions, both on and off the field. Local club nominees for the Roberto Clemente Award presented by Chevrolet are recognized in pregame ceremonies.

Royals Charities hosts Shirts Off Their Backs, giving fans the opportunity to win an autographed jersey from a Royals player! Throughout the game, volunteers will sell $1 instant win scratch tickets. Following the game, winners will be escorted to the field where they will receive a game-worn jersey directly from one of the Royals. Fans also have an opportunity to bid on one of the spots and secure their place on the field. Proceeds benefit Royals Charities and a local Kansas City charity.

Royals Charities is once again teaming with The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation to host a T.A.K.E. Defense self-defense class on the field at Kauffman Stadium. The class is free of charge and open to females ages 12 and older. Participants must pre-register and those under the age of 18 will also need a signature from a parent or guardian to participate.
