Thank you for joining us on Memorial Day as we honored the military and celebrated Royals Armed Forces Day, presented by Budweiser on Monday, May 27 versus the St. Louis Cardinals!
A special pre-game ceremony* honoring our service men and women took place prior to the game at 1:10 p.m. The ceremony included recognitions of veterans, wounded warriors, and a military family, as well as a tribute to fallen soldiers, World War II Veterans Charlie Sibert and Robert Riley, video tribute and more. The National Anthem was performed by Generald Wilson and included a Color Guard assembled from Whiteman AFB.
In addition, the first 20,000 fans received miniature American flags.
The Kansas City Royals are proud of our veterans and would like to invite fans to help us salute the military by nominating a veteran to sit in the Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat during Armed Forces Day at the ballpark. In honor of the late Buck O'Neil, the Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat honors a member of the community who, on a large or small scale, embodies an aspect of Buck's spirit.
