Brewers Community Foundation Programs

logo

BREWERS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION is the official charitable arm of the Milwaukee Brewers. We are proud to give back to our community in many ways. Brewers Community Foundation harnesses the pride, passion and commitment of Brewers fans, players and other supporters to positively impact the lives of children and families in Greater Milwaukee and Wisconsin. We seek to be thoughtful and dependable, philanthropic leaders actively engaged in providing needed financial support consistent with our mission.

BREWERS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION 50/50 RAFFLE

Tickets will be sold throughout the ballpark from the time gates open during every Brewers home game. The winning ticket will be announced, and a lucky fan will take home half of the net proceeds from the day's raffle ticket sales! The other half will benefit Brewers Community Foundation. Some of the non-profit programs previously supported by the Foundation include Arts at Large, Beckum Stapleton Little League, Boys & Girls Club, COA, Felix Mantilla Little League, Girl Scouts of Milwaukee, Hunger Task Force, Habitat for Humanity, Make-a-Wish, Sojourner Truth House, Susan G. Komen, UPAF, United Way, YMCA, and YWCA.

BREWERS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION DRIVE FOR CHARITY

During the months of April, June and August, Brewers Community Foundation invites fans to drop off items or make a donation of $5 and receive a Milwaukee Brewers player collectible pin. These items and donations are then distributed to non-profit organizations in areas where they are desperately needed. This year the dates and requested items will be:
April 20 - 22: Any new full size toiletry items for men living in a shelter for homeless
June 29 - July 1: New or gently used baseball equipment for youth
August 31 - September 2: New school supplies for children

BREWERS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION WEEK

Brewers Community Foundation will host its third annual BCF Week August 16 through August 22, 2012. The week will feature fundraisers on each game day that will engage and delight fans throughout the homestand. The "Ultimate Auction" will be held online during this period featuring Brewers memorabilia and VIP experiences. Proceeds from each fundraiser will benefit Brewers Community Foundation.

BREWERS BUDDIES TICKET PROGRAM

Last season, thousands of complimentary game tickets were distributed to non-profit community groups through this program. The Brewers Buddies program is made possible through contributions from our season seat holders, sponsors, players, ownership group and MLB Commissioner Bud Selig to Brewers Community Foundation.

A formal request to enroll in the program is required on the organization's letterhead along with a copy of their IRS Letter of Determination or other official documentation demonstrating tax-exempt status and must be submitted to Brewers Community Foundation/Brewers Buddies. For more information about participation in the program, call 414-902-4509.

CHANGE FOR CHILDREN COLLECTION BOXES

In an effort to address the many challenges facing our community, Brewers Community Foundation, in partnership with the Brewers, has installed Change for Children Collection Boxes throughout Miller Park. Your change will provide needed financial support to a number of non-profit organizations throughout Milwaukee and Wisconsin. Our small change will have a big impact in the lives of children and their families. We hope you will join our efforts to make a difference.

5K FAMOUS RACING SAUSAGES RUN/WALK

Runners and walkers look forward to the annual 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk held each summer at Miller Park. The 2012 5K Run/Walk will be held on July 28th. The event starts and finishes at the Klement's Sausage Haus at Miller Park. Last year 3,000 participants raced with the popular Klement's Famous Racing Sausages, who actually run the entire 5K course. All net proceeds from the annual run/walk support the programs of Brewers Community Foundation. Individual fundraising through Brewers Community Foundation's online tool will provide needed support to Fisher House Wisconsin, a-soon-to-be built facility for injured military and their families.

GRANT REQUESTS

Brewers Community Foundation provides a significant number of grants each year to non-profit organizations. Our funding efforts strategically extend financial support to non-profits that provide quality programming in the areas of health, education, recreation and basic needs, with a particular focus on low income and disadvantaged youth and their families. Grants are generally limited up to $10,000 for Wisconsin-based organizations. All grant requests must be made in writing. A grant application form can be found at brewers.com/bcf. In 2011, Brewers Community Foundation awarded more than $2 million in grants and other monetary donations with more than 175 organizations receiving funding.

EVENING WITH HANK AARON

Baseball legend and former Braves' and Brewers' great Hank Aaron returns to Milwaukee each year for a special fundraising event held in Miller Park's Johnson Controls Stadium Club and hosted by Brewers Community Foundation. Proceeds from his event are directed to the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation, which helps area children fulfill a special talent and realize their full potential. The Evening with Hank Aaron event has raised more than $750,000 with funds donated by Brewers Community Foundation and administered through the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.

LITTLE BREWERS CLUB

The Milwaukee Brewers, Brewers Community Foundation, U.S. Cellular, the Boys & Girls Club of Wisconsin and a Brewers player sponsor the Little Brewers Club, a statewide baseball league for children between the ages of six and nine. The program has grown to more than 2,000 children from two dozen Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Wisconsin. Each year the program concludes with a tailgate party at Miller Park.

SCOREBOARD RECOGNITION PROGRAM

Fans can purchase either a Full Scoreboard Message or a Single Line Shared Message during a game at Miller Park through the Scoreboard Recognition Program. Miller Park has been the site of many marriage proposals and birthday wishes through this program. All proceeds benefit Brewers Community Foundation. A scoreboard message form can be requested by e-mailing Meredith Malone at meredith.malone@brewers.com

SELIG SCHOLARS PROGRAM

More than 90 students have been recipients of college scholarships through this program, created in the name of former Brewers owner and current Commissioner of Baseball, Allan H. (Bud) Selig. Funding for the scholarships resulted from proceeds donated by Major League Baseball from the All-Star Workout Day, which was part of the 2002 All-Star festivities held at Miller Park. Wisconsin students selected for the program who show promise but are financially challenged receive up to $10,000 in funds to attend a college in Wisconsin and participate in a variety of mentoring, job shadowing and internship opportunities offered through the program. Applications are available by visiting brewers.com/bcf or by mail at: Brewers Community Foundation, Selig Scholars Program, One Brewers Way, Milwaukee, WI 53214.

THANKSGIVING TURKEY AND CHRISTMAS FAMILY FEAST

The Milwaukee Brewers, Brewers Community Foundation, Feeding America, Hunger Task Force, Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office and 1290 WMCS-AM radio station mark the Thanksgiving holiday season by donating approximately 500 turkeys with the fixings to families in need throughout the Milwaukee community. A combination of players, coaches, broadcasters and front office staff help deliver Thanksgiving baskets in advance of the holidays. The Brewers Community Foundation joins 1290 WMCS and the Salvation Army annually in support of their effort to feed 10,000 people during the Christmas Family Feast. Toys, hats, gloves and books are distributed to the children who attend this heartwarming annual holiday gathering.
