The Minnesota Twins 10th annual Holiday Week of Giving is underway! This year's week of activities runs from Monday, December 8 through Friday, December 12.
Each year the Twins front office staff focuses on giving back to the community during the holiday season by volunteering for a variety of community causes.
"Giving back to the community, especially during the holiday season, is at the heart of who we are as an organization," said Bryan Donaldson, Twins Senior Director of Community Relations. "Throughout the past nine years, the Week of Giving has connected volunteers from the Twins staff with many worthwhile organizations and thousands of families."
A brief description of each event is listed below:Monday, Dec. 8 / 1 - 3 p.m.
Holiday Mail for Heroes - Twins front office employees will make cards of thanks, encouragement and holiday cheer to members of our U.S. Armed Forces, veterans and military families, many of whom will be far away from home this holiday season. Cards will then be distributed through the Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes program.Tuesday, Dec. 9 / 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Habitat for Humanity - Twins employees will work to renovate a home in North Minneapolis. (3522 4th St. N, Minneapolis, MN 55412)Wednesday, Dec 10 / 4 - 6 p.m.
Arc Value Village in Richfield - Twins volunteers will unpack and sort donations and help get them ready for the sales floor. Other volunteer projects include hanging and tagging clothing, price stickering hard goods and stocking the sales floor.Thursday, Dec. 11 / 1 - 3 p.m.
Wellstone Elementary in St. Paul - Twins volunteers will read books to students at Paul and Sheila Wellstone Elementary School as part of their reading program, then help to award reading certificates to students in an assembly at the end of the school day.Friday, Dec. 12 / 2 - 4 p.m.
Rock the Red Kettle at Mall of America - Twins volunteers will work eight different kettle sites around MOA. All money raised from these kettles will go directly to Salvation Army Harbor Lights, our neighbor and the largest homeless shelter in the metro.
