The Minnesota Twins are proud to have many programs that honor the many active and veteran members of our armed services who reside in Twins Territory. At every Twins game, a veteran is honored before the singing of the National Anthem. The veteran is thanked for their service and typically receives a rousing ovation before raising the American flag during the Star Spangled Banner.
The Twins offer free tickets to military members and their families throughout the season, and offer discounted tickets every Monday home game.
The Twins are committed to the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon program. Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is a program pioneered by the Minnesota National Guard to connect all Minnesota service members and their families with community support, services and resources. Twice a month, the Twins recognize Yellow Ribbon Networks that go above and beyond in supporting service members and their families with an on-field pregame ceremony.
Twins second baseman, Brian Dozier created a program for military members and their families called, Dozier's Heroes.
Through a partnership with the Minnesota National Guard, Dozier invites 12 military members and their families to Target Field each Friday home game.
The families arrive early at Target Field and receive a powder blue Dozier's Heroes t-shirt before heading down to the field to watching batting practice.
One of the highlights of the evening is when Dozier stops by to have a brief meet-and-greet with the group, often chatting about life as a baseball player, his home state of Mississippi or his interest in hunting. Before Dozier leaves the Heroes to rejoin the team, he thanks them for their service, signs autographs and poses for a group picture. The Heroes then join the rest of the fans in the stands as they enjoy the baseball game with tickets donated by Dozier.
The Twins wanted to recognize military personnel on a larger scale when moving to Target Field in 2010. Since then, the Minnesota Twins have created the Twins Flag Raiser Program. Before each Twins home game, a veteran or current soldier is honored by receiving recognition for their accomplishments and sacrifices and then given the opportunity to raise the American Flag to the top of the flagpole during the singing of the National Anthem.
Every year, the Twins hold an annual "Armed Forces Appreciation Day" that honors veterans and active service members from all five branches of the military. The celebration includes special pregame festivities and more than 1,000 donated tickets for military members and their families. Some activities consist of a fly over with WWII-era planes, a memorial tribute to service members from Twins Territory, and the Minnesota Military Appreciation Fund presenting checks to Purple Heart recipients.
For select games throughout the season, the Minnesota Twins offer the opportunity for active military members or veterans, plus four guests, to receive half-price tickets in Home Plate View seating locations.
The Minnesota Twins are proud to recruit and hire veterans for full and part-time positions with organization. Currently more than 100 veterans work for the Twins.
