Player Awards
CARL R. POHLAD AWARD
Every season the Twins Community Fund selects a player who best exemplifies the Twins' late owner's passion and commitment to the Community. The 2011 winner is Carl Pavano, who was honored for his work with homeless youth and used baseball equipment for disadvantaged youth. Carl and his wife Alissa, through their Pitch In foundation, purchase shoes, clothes and other necessities for youth and families living at the Sharing and Caring Hands emergency shelter. In addition, Carl serves as spokesman and assists with the work of Pitch In for Baseball a nonprofit that collects and distributes used baseball equipment.
The Twins Community Fund made a $5,000 contribution to Pitch In for Baseball in honor of Carl's award.

KIRBY PUCKETT AWARD
Every season the Twins Community Fund selects a former Twins player who gives back to the community in retirement in the same spirit as Kirby did during and after his playing days.
The 2011 winner is Terry Steinbach, who was honored for his work to combat ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease .Terry's father passed away from ALS. In the wake of his father's illness, Terry has strived to raise funds to fight the disease, as well as raise awareness for the work of the ALS Association of Minnesota. Terry hosts the annual Blackwoods Blizzard Tour, a charity snowmobile ride through Northern Minnesota.
