An inspirational weekend full of events ended in style as the Reds needed a play at the plate to secure the final out in their 4-3 victory over the Cardinals in the Gillette Civil Rights Game. Drew Stubbs' two-run triple in the sixth inning put Cincy ahead for good and helped rookie Mike Leake improve to 4-0. It took a perfect relay throw from Reds shortstop Orlando Cabrera to peg St. Louis' Skip Schumaker at the plate to end the game.

Other highlights of the weekend included Willie Mays, Billie Jean King and Harry Belafonte receiving MLB Beacon Awards, former congressman and U.S. ambassador Andrew Young delivering the luncheon keynote address, a Civil Rights Movement Roundtable Discussion and exhibits at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
