2Alvarez, PedroVanderbilt U3BL/R6'02"2121987-02-06JR400K
Comments: Alvarez entered the season as the top player, talent-wise, in the Draft, and even though he missed a chunk of the season after suffering a broken hamate bone in his right hand, his status hasn't suffered. While his timing and strength have been slow in fully returning, most are confident it will and point to a long track record of success for Alvarez. The only thing that could affect his status on Draft day are perceived bonus demands, but it's unlikely they will force any huge slide out of the first several picks.

7Alonso, YonderU Miami1BL/R6'02"2151987-04-08JR400K
Comments: Alonso or Smoak? Smoak or Alonso? It can be quite a debate over which college first baseman should go first on Draft day. Alonso is a hitter, period, with a great approach and power, especially the other way right now. Defensively, he's no great shakes, but it's that bat that teams will dream about putting in the middle of their lineup to produce plenty of runs in the future.

106Adams, DavidU Virginia2BR/R6'02"2051987-05-15JR400K
Comments: The University of Virginia has become a good proving ground for legit pro prospects in recent years, and while Adams isn't Ryan Zimmerman, he should do pretty well in this year's Draft. A solid hard-nosed type, he gets the ultimate praise from scouts as being a real "baseball player." He's hit in the past, but didn't fare so well this season, which might affect him somewhat, but likely not too much.
