Focus Area
Comments
Fastball:Crawford threw his fastball in the 87-90 mph, touching 91 at times.
Fastball movement:He has arm-side life and it takes off away against right-handed hitters.
Curve:His curve is hard and sharp.
Control:He's done a much better job command-wise this year; this used to be an issue.
Poise:Now in a relief role, he's much more agressive and has a more confident posture on the mound.
Physical Description:Crawford is a medium-framed lefty in good condition. He's not intimidating, but he's got an athletic build and a good pitcher's body.
Medical Update:Healthy.
Strengths:His breaking ball and the life on his fastball.
Weaknesses:He still needs to show he can command the ball consistently; anyone interested in him as a starter would like to see a third pitch.
Summary:Crawford seems to have found the right role, pitching out of Auburn's bullpen after two ineffective years as a starter. He used a strong finish to his Cape season as a springboard and has been used as more of a setup man with Auburn. He's been able to use two good pitches to go right after hitters and should be of interest to teams looking for quality lefty relievers ... which is pretty much every team.
