Comments
Fastball:Harris threw his fastball up to 93 mph.
Fastball movement:It was fairly true, without much movement.
Slider:He threw a pretty good slider that looked kind of like a hard cutter.
Changeup:He mixed in an occasional changeup.
Control:He's a very good strike-thrower.
Poise:Coming from the Naval Academy, he's extremely poised on the mound.
Physical Description:Harris is a physically fit right-hander with a good, athletic body.
Medical Update:Healthy.
Strengths:Good pitcher's body, two at least average pitches with a chance for three, outstanding makeup.
Weaknesses:He'll need permission from the Navy to put off his active duty to turn pro, teams won't know until fairly late if he'll be able to sign.
Summary:Not your typical college senior, Harris could be among the first of that class to go if the Navy allows him to put off his active duty like the Army's Nick Hill did a year ago. The Braves liked what they saw in Harris a year ago despite knowing it would be nearly impossible to sign him. He's still throwing as well and the going should be a little bit easier, so predicting an earlier draft than last year's 24th round is a no-brainer.
