Academic Class:Sophomore
Weight:210 lbs.

Focus Area
Fastball:Clocked at 89-90 mph last year, Shreve lit up radar guns in the 92-96 mph range.
Fastball movement:The fastball can flatten out at times.
Curve:A little bit of an inconsistent offering, it's got a little hump in it. It's usable, especially at this level, but it's not outstanding.
Changeup:Shreve has a good changeup that grades out as average to strong average.
Control:It's fair. He's not piling up walks, but he does miss over the plate at times. He can throw the ball by people up in the zone in junior college, but that won't work in the pro game.
Poise:Shreve is very mature and an excellent competitor on the mound.
Physical Description:At 6-foot-5, Shreve has a good body and big, athletic frame.
Medical Update:Healthy.
Strengths:Size and arm strength. He's gained a lot of velocity on his fastball and with some tweaks to his delivery, it could get more consistent.
Weaknesses:He sometimes doesn't pitch like he's 6-foot-5. That stems from some mechanical issues with his delivery -- he collapses on his back side. He has yet to make the adjustments to become a more dominant pitcher.
Summary:A seventh-round pick a year ago by the Atlanta Braves, he looks to improve his Draft standing as one of the better JUCO pitchers in the country. He's added some velocity, up to 96 mph, and while he's still a work in progress, there's plenty to work with in terms of arm strength and size.
