34Goodwin, BrianMiami Dade CC SouthOFL/L6'01"1951990-11-02J2
Comments: Draft fans will remember Goodwin as the toolsy North Carolina high schooler who was drafted by the White Sox in 2009 but chose the University of North Carolina instead. Facing academic suspension this season, the outfielder transferred to Miami Dade, a junior college, thus making him eligible for this year's Draft. Goodwin possesses many of the same tools from a couple of years back. The left-handed hitter should be above average at the plate, with a good approach and the ability to square balls up. He's got future above-average power to all fields as well. An above-average runner, he uses his speed well on the bases, where he should be a basestealer, and in the outfield. He's got plenty of arm strength and a solid glove -- one that could work in center, but might be best suited to left field when all is said and done. He's got enough bat to play a corner, and the glimpses of all five tools he shows should have him in the first-round conversation.

96Purke, MattTexas ChristianLHPL/L6'04"1801990-07-17SO
Comments: When healthy, Purke is one of the most complete pitchers in the Draft class. Taken in high school in the first round of the 2009 Draft, Purke didn't sign with the Rangers and went on to TCU instead. After a stellar freshman year, he entered 2011 as one of the top college arms as a Draft-eligible sophomore. He throws his fastball comfortably in the 90-95 mph range and can even touch 96 mph. He has a plus curve that has the potential to be even better and a slider that has the chance to be plus as well. His changeup is fringe average, giving him four pitches that he will mix and use to work hitters and keep them off balance. Purke is very confident on the mound and can be best described as a finesse lefty with plus arm strength and power. He was, however, shut down with shoulder bursitis this spring, leaving his status very much up in the air. Considered to be a tough sign even before the injury, it remains to be seen who will take the chance on his arm and his signability in June.
