Ozzie Smith
Ozzie Smith was the best defensive shortstop of the 1980s and arguably one or the best in baseball history. For nineteen years, the Smith dominated baseball with breathtaking, and often game-saving, defensive play. Smith won thirteen straight Gold Gloves (1980-1992) at shortstop and led the N.L. in fielding percentage seven times. Voted to the National League All-Star team fifteen times (1981-92, 1994-96), Smith has a career 2573 game appearances, .262 batting average, 28 home runs, and 793 RBI's.
