Bowman Hitting Challenge presented by Sprouts Farmers Markets

October 21, 2017
Mesa Sloan Park
6:35 p.m. ET

The 5th annual Bowman Hitting Challenge, presented by Sprouts Farmers Markets, will take place on October 21, 2017. The event is an unconventional home-run derby featuring one slugger from each of the 30 MLB organizations currently playing in the 2017 Arizona Fall League.

Each batter, after four untimed bunts at targets, will have two minutes to swing away at live pitching for points either from home runs or by hitting a variety of stationary and moving targets scattered around the playing field. At the conclusion of the two-minute period, each hitter will have one swing at the Bowman Bonus Ball off a tee atop home plate for double points. Point values range from 100-700 points. When designated targets are hit by batted balls, fans in the stands win prizes. Fifty points will be deducted for foul balls. Players with the leading point totals from the American League and National League clubs will win cash prizes.

This year, this event will also feature a post-event auction with the American Cancer Society and Zinger Bats where 6 signed team PINK bats will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
