Rajai Davis - Fantasy News & Updates
It looks like Davis will end the year with a batting average north of .300 for the first time, as the single and double lifted his average to .306. That mark, combined with his 65 runs and 41 steals, made Davis a surprisingly adept option in mixed formats. Look for him as a cheap source for steals next year as he's earned a very good chance at starting for the A's in 2010.
Davis has been playing on another planet for much of the season's second half. The scary part -- for opposing pitchers, that is -- is that the .405/.595/.488 line he posted in July might not turn out to be his most productive run of the year after the way he's going in September. Davis has merely cracked out a .409 average with 14 runs scored and 10 steals in the current month and is one of the hottest hitters in the game. If you had the foresight to scoop him up when he was available, your foresight has paid off handsomely.
Owners who missed out on the fleet-footed Davis have been waiting for the other shoe to drop for awhile now, but after three-plus months of kinetic play, it's safe to say that the emerging outfielder is the real deal. Davis is hitting .407 (24-for-59) with eight multi-hit affairs, 14 runs scored and eight stolen bases in September.
Another superb all-around performance for Davis, who is 18-for-42 (.428 AVG) with three doubles, nine runs and seven swipes over his last eight games. The 28-year-old center fielder, who has seen his stock rise rapidly since becoming an everyday player, is batting .314 with 54 runs and 37 steals in 107 games.
Davis has caused fits for opposing hurlers in the season's second half, ripping at a .351 clip and plating five times the amount of runners (30) than he did during the first half. When you tack on 33 second-half runs and 25 steals, Davis has to be considered to be one of the game's most surprising (and valuable) contributors since the break.
Just another night on the job for Davis, who’s hit safely in eight of the last nine games, crossing the plate 10 times and swiping five bases in the process. On the season, the second-half stud is batting .307 with 51 runs, 34 steals and a rock-solid .369 on-base percentage over 290 at-bats.
Another solid night’s work for Davis, who collected his seventh multi-hit effort in the last 11 games while raising his average to a season-high .303. The third-year center fielder has come into his own since the All-Star break, batting .333 with 29 RBIs, 31 runs and 21 thefts to play his way onto rosters in all formats. It’s safe to say he’ll be on the radars of many come draft time next season.
Another day, another multi-hit effort for Davis, who’s racked up five of them in the last eight games. The 28-year-old center fielder has turned some heads since the All-Star break, batting .329 with 28 RBIs and 19 steals in 42 games to play his way onto rosters in all formats.
Place your bid for Davis, who's hitting .381 (9-for-21) with five RBIs in his last five contests. He went on a .380 tear in 19 games from July 28 - Aug. 16, swiping 11 bags in 12 chances in the process, so he's already proven that he can be a valuable mixed-league option.
Davis was also caught stealing for the eighth time, but owners don't get penalized for the caught stealing attempts. What matters is that he's running often, and he could reach 40 stolen bases if he continues to hit the ball the way he has in August. He holds a .320 batting average with 10 doubles during the month, making him a great standard mixed-league option.
If you took a flyer on Davis near the stat of his Aug. 5-17 11-game hitting streak, congratulations, you've been rewarded with copious amounts of runs scored (13), stolen bases (11), extra-base hits (8) and a rock-solid .307 batting average.
Davis, who suffered the injury one day earlier, said he would have played if asked, but Oakland manager Bob Geren suggested that it was about time for his center fielder to get a bit of a rest, anyway. "Rajai's been playing a lot of games for us for a while now, and he's obviously done a great job," said the skipper. "It's late August, though, and he's probably going to play quite a bit the rest of the way." Davis has hit safely in 24 of his past 26 games, batting .340 with 18 runs, 10 doubles, two triples, 17 RBIs and 14 stolen bases over that span.
What a ride it's been for Davis, who's hit safely in 21 of 23 games since July 28. His .356 batting average, 15 RBIs and 13 stolen bases during that time frame have made him a must-add player in mixed leagues.
Davis is batting .370 (17-for-46) with seven steals over the course of his streak. The 28-year-old may not hit like this for the rest of the season, but considering that Oakland manager Bob Geren has made him the regular center fielder, it's safe to count on him as a prime source of steals from here on out.
Davis, who extended his hitting streak to 11 games, is batting .370 with six extra-base hits, eight runs and seven thefts during the surge. Owners in any format looking to add some speed and a hot bat to their outfields should give Davis some consideration.
