Omar Quintanilla - Fantasy News & Updates
The 33-year-old Peralta, who elected to become a free agent, went 0-3 with a 6.20 ERA in 27 games in 2009. Quintanilla, 28, hit .172 with two doubles and two RBIs in 58 games.
Tulo appeared to tweak his back on the single, and lost steam as he was running to first base. Although he apparently was lobbying to remain in the game, manager Jim Tracy chose to bring in Omar Quintanilla as the pinch-runner and replacement shortstop. Stay tuned to see if Tulo is back in the batting order on Tuesday.
The veteran infielder hasn't played much this season, but he's cracked the lineup with a touch more regularity lately thanks to the struggles of Garret Atkins and Clint Barmes. Despite getting a few chances to show what he can do, Quintanilla is hitting just .186 with a pair of RBIs in 43 at-bats this season.
Tulowitzki missed 47 games last year with a torn left quadriceps tendon, and the injury he suffered Sunday was during a 3-2 victory over the Marlins. At least Sunday's injury wasn't bad enough to force him out of the game immediately. The Rockies can move second baseman Clint Barmes to shortstop, and Barmes has the ability to play short for extended periods. Colorado also has Ian Stewart, who plays second, and Omar Quintanilla, who can play any infield position, to cover for an absence in the short or long term. Stay tuned.

Nice to see Quintanilla get off the schneid, as he's gone just 2-for-22 (.091) in his last 10 contests. Clearly, the fourth-year utilityman retains minimal fantasy value as long as he's scrapping for at-bats down the stretch in a crowded Rockies infield.
Quintanilla's second homer broke a streak of 16 at-bats without a hit. The Rockies utility infielder is batting .246 with 17 doubles and 15 RBIs in 195 at-bats this year.
Tulo's been hitting the ball well enough, going 21-for-46 (.457) since returning from the disabled list on July 21. However, he hasn't hit a homer and he has drawn just two walks in that time, so his fantasy value hasn't been overwhelming. Omar Quintanilla filled in at shortstop for Tulo.
It's been a rough stretch for Qunintallia, who's gone just 4-for-25 (.160) with no RBIs and seven strikeouts to begin the month after hitting .297 in June. Though the streaky utilityman has put together a few very productive stretches over the course of the year, he's seen his playing time dwindle in light of both the emergence of Jeff Baker and the return of Clint Barmes. He should be relegated to consideration in deer NL-only formats at this poimt.
Quintanilla's hit safely in a career-best seven straight games, and he's batting .417 over that stretch.
Quintanilla's hit safely in five straight games and eight of his last nine, cracking two-baggers in each of his last four contests. That said, the fourth-year infielder has driven in just four runs since the start of May, making him a tough play outside of NL-only formats at this time.
Though he's hit safely in four straight games and seven of his last eight, Tuesday's performance marked just the second multi-hit effort for Quintanilla in 15 contests this month. The fourth-year utilityman sports a .262 average with one homer, 12 doubles and 16 runs scored in 126 at-bats, making him a viable NL-only option while Troy Tulowitzki and Clint Barmes remain sidelined.
A much needed breakout for Quintanilla, who'd gone just 3-for-24 with a lone RBI over his last seven contests. Despite the head-turning performance, the fourth-year utilityman's ' 08 numbers (.243 AVG, 1 HR, 8 RBIs in 103 AB) do very little in the way of fantasy value at the moment.
Quintanilla continues to see regular time in the Rockies infield, as Saturday marked his sixth straight start for the club. With Clint Barmes and Troy Tulowitzski sidelined, expect Quintanilla and his .253 average to remain in the team's lineup for the time being.
A much needed performance for Quintanilla, who'd gone hitless in his last 15 at-bats entering Tuesday's affair. The fourth-year infielder is hitting .273 with five doubles and eight runs scored in 43 at-bats this season, making him a viable NL-only option at second base as long as he's seeing regular playing time in Troy Tulowitzki's absence.
