A.J. is A-OK in debut

A.J. Burnett took a shutout into the seventh before giving up a two-run homer to Alex Rodriguez. Burnett got offensive support from Alex Rios, who had two RBIs, and Vernon Wells, who hit his first homer of the season, off New York's Mike Mussina.
 

A-Rod goes deep

The Bombers found runs hard to come by in the second game of the season. New York was held scoreless until the sixth, when Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run homer. Mike Mussina took the loss after allowing three earned runs in 5 2/3 innings.
