Yanks ride bunts and a bloop to win (1-2) (2-1)

Yankees 3, Blue Jays 2

Jays drop finale

In the third, leadoff hitter David Eckstein scored on Alex Rios' single, and Eckstein added an RBI of his own to support Dustin McGowan in the series finale. The Jays had to do without Frank Thomas after the fourth, when the slugger was ejected after disputing a called third strike.

Hughes starts strong

Phil Hughes handcuffed the Blue Jays early, retiring the first nine batters he faced. The Yanks erased a two-run deficit in the sixth, with Johnny Damon scoring on a wild pitch and Jason Giambi plating Derek Jeter with a sac fly. Bobby Abreu knocked in the winning run in the eighth.
