Carlos Silva, who made a strong regular-season debut by holding the Rangers to one run over seven innings last Wednesday afternoon at Safeco Field, will get the ball in Monday afternoon's series finale against the Orioles in Camden Yards.

Carlos Silva

  • #52 RHP
  • (1-0) 1.29 ERA 5 SO
The right-hander gave Seattle seven solid innings in his regular-season debut against the Rangers. The only run he allowed was on a solo home run to former Mariner Ben Broussard. As advertised, Silva was around the plate and was the first starter to go at least seven innings. He is built for endurance and now takes the show inside the Tropicana Dome in the opener of a three-game series.

Cabrera gets ball as O's eye sweep

The Orioles will try to keep momentum going with right-hander Daniel Cabrera, who lost a league-high 18 games last year. Cabrera went 1-1 against Seattle last year and has a 5-1 career record with a 4.44 ERA against the Mariners, who the O's can sweep on Monday.

Daniel Cabrera

  • #49 RHP
  • (0-0) 13.50 ERA 2 SO
Cabrera struggled in his season debut Wednesday, allowing six earned runs and not making it out of the fifth inning. The right-hander walked five batters -- one of them intentionally -- and gave up six hits, two of which went for home runs. Cabrera led the league in walks and losses last season, and the Orioles are watching his progress carefully.

Huff's homer lifts O's (2-5) (5-1)

Orioles 5, Mariners 4

Bullpen falters

Carlos Silva gave up four runs over seven innings on Monday, but the bullpen couldn't hold back the Orioles as Eric O'Flaherty gave up a tie-breaking homer in Seattle's loss at Camden Yards.

Orioles sweep

Right-hander Daniel Cabrera recovered from a rough first inning Monday and veteran Aubrey Huff hit a solo homer in the eighth to put the O's ahead for good in a sweep of the Mariners.
