O's aim to keep rolling in doubleheader

Baltimore's game against Texas got rained out on Wednesday night, setting up a doubleheader for Thursday. The Orioles will attempt to regroup and keep their early season karma -- which includes a six-game winning streak -- rolling on Thursday.

Orioles probable pitcher

Steve Trachsel

  • RHP
  • (1-0) 3.18 ERA 1 SO
Trachsel pitched into 10 three-ball counts in his season debut, but he worked out of trouble enough to pitch into the sixth inning. Last year, Trachsel allowed three earned runs or less in 17 of his 25 starts as an Oriole. Baltimore traded Trachsel to the Cubs at the end of last August and signed him as a free agent right before Spring Training.

Botts to get start in doubleheader

Jason Botts finally will get his chance to play, with a doubleheader looming between the Rangers and the Orioles at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Rangers probable pitcher

Kevin Millwood

  • #33 RHP
  • (0-2) 1.29 ERA 9 SO
Millwood is making his 34th career start at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, where he is 15-11 with a 5.04 ERA in his career. He was 8-4 with a 4.78 ERA in 15 starts there last year. Millwood was 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA against the Orioles last year and is 7-2 with a 3.49 ERA against them in his career. Going into the season, that was tied with the Mariners for the most victories against one American League opponent.

Little help for Trachsel

Steve Trachsel had his second quality start of the season, holding the Rangers to five hits over 6 1/3, but it wasn't enough as the Orioles' offense -- which had second highest batting average in the AL before this game -- was held to only three hits.

Series at a Glance

Lead not relinquished

Kevin Millwood gave up only three hits in seven innings as the Rangers' ace got his first win of the season. He was buoyed by a late start by the Rangers offense, as Josh Hamilton notched two RBIs and Michael Young went 2-for-3, driving in what would be the winning run in the seventh.
