In June 1984, the Cubs selected a lefty in the sixth round named Jamie Moyer. He pitched three seasons for the Cubs from 1986-88, and departed via trade, one of nine players in a deal with the Rangers. On Sunday, Moyer will start for the Phillies against the Cubs in the series finale, facing his former team and former manager, Lou Piniella.

Jason Marquis
- #21 RHP
- (0-0) 6.75 ERA 2 SO
Marquis was scratched from his start on Thursday against the Pirates because he was ill. If he can't go on Sunday, left-hander Sean Marshall, called up from Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, will start in his place. Marquis is coming off a no-decision against Houston on April 5 in which he gave up five runs, four earned, on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings. Marshall was a starter this spring, but added as a long man in the bullpen.

Cubs manager Lou Piniella knows his club will have it tough to salvage Sunday's series finale at Citizens Bank Park. That's what happens when you draw Jamie Moyer. The Phillies lefty will throw his varied assortment of changeups and cutters, just like he's done for 23 years. From 1996-2002, Moyer went 98-48 for Piniella's Mariners and enjoyed a career resurgence.

The left-handed Moyer rebounded from a poor first outing to limit the Mets to two runs in six innings on April 8, helping to spoil the final home opener at Shea Stadium. The 45-year-old, in his 23rd Major League season, faces the team for which he made his Major League for on June 16, 1986. He is 2-0 with a 3.75 ERA in four career outings against the Cubs.
