Webb looks to reverse curse at AT&T

The D-backs close out their three-game series with the Giants on Wednesday afternoon, and they will no doubt be pleased to get away from AT&T Park.

Diamondbacks probable pitcher

Brandon Webb

  • #17 RHP
  • (3-0) 2.14 ERA 17 SO
Webb has put the issue of whether he can beat the Rockies to rest. Two of the right-hander's three wins this year have come against Colorado. In his most recent start last Friday at Chase Field, Webb held the Rockies to two runs over eight innings of work. It was his second straight start against the team that he had a 5.77 ERA last year. In the first one, he allowed just two runs (one earned) on five hits over seven innings at Coors Field. On Opening Day against the Reds, the right-hander allowed two runs over six innings in a 4-2 D-backs win. It was Webb's first Opening Day win in three tries. He's known for his devastating sinker, but has developed his curve and change to the point where he can use both at any time in the game.

Winn looks to lead charge vs. Webb

Giants manager Bruce Bochy will certainly check past performances before filling out his lineup card for Wednesday's series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Giants probable pitcher

Barry Zito

  • #75 LHP
  • (0-3) 4.50 ERA 6 SO
Although Zito has lost each of his starts, he has pitched progressively better in every one. Last Friday, he was leading St. Louis, 2-1 in the fifth inning, when an error by second baseman Ray Durham paved the way for three unearned runs on an Albert Pujols homer. Continuing to show he's not an automatic out at the plate, Zito also stroked his first hit of the year. He's 2-3 with a 2.73 ERA lifetime against Arizona, including 1-2, 3.93 last year.
