Royals seeking power from Guillen

The Royals are hoping that Jose Guillen's power will begin to show through this week, as they open a three-game series against the Rangers in Arlington. Brett Tomko will face Jason Jennings in the series opener on Tuesday.

Royals probable pitcher

Brett Tomko

  • RHP
  • (1-3) 5.25 ERA
Royals: Tomko felt like he never had control in his last start, a loss to the Indians. He lasted just four innings, allowing seven runs and 11 hits while throwing 108 pitches. The high pitch count can be contributed to control issues. Tomko thought he let the batters get ahead in the count too often. The outing was his worst of the season. Tomko had gone seven innings and six innings in his previous two starts and allowed a combined seven runs.
