The Diamondbacks went 5-5 on their homestand and will hand the ball to Dan Haren in Chicago looking to regain the momentum that has them leading the league in wins.
Diamondbacks probable pitcher
Dan Haren
- RHP
- (4-1) 3.12 ERA
D-backs: Haren matched up against the Mets' Johan Santana in his last start and did not get a decision, as the D-backs fell, 5-2, thanks to a three-run New York rally in the ninth. One of the two runs came on a 2-0 fastball to David Wright -- one of the few bad pitches he threw in his six innings of work. Haren has pitched well in all but one of his starts this year as he got hit hard by the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

The Cubs have hit much better at home than on the road this season, and they'll be looking for more fireworks Friday at Wrigley Field vs. the D-backs.
Cubs probable pitcher
Ted Lilly
- LHP
- (2-4) 5.97 ERA
Cubs: Lilly isn't worried about his arm strength after his last outing. The lefty seems to be picking up velocity, and he has confidence that he can get batters out without throwing hard. In his last start, a 9-3 win over St. Louis, Lilly went a season-high seven innings, and gave up three runs on six hits. Two of those runs came on solo homers, including one by Albert Pujols. Lilly picked up his 1,000th career strikeout in the game as well. The day off on Thursday will help. Lilly threw a season-high 112 pitches against the Cardinals.
