Johnson losing at-bats to Infante

Because Sunday afternoon's game was postponed due to rain, the Braves and Pirates will play a doubleheader beginning at 12:35 p.m. ET on Monday. Kelly Johnson and Omar Infante may each start a game at second base.

Jair Jurrjens

Braves: While allowing one run and seven hits in six innings against the Padres on Tuesday, Jurrjens arguably had his least impressive outing in three weeks. In his four previous outings, he had limited opponents to a .124 batting average. The 22-year-old right-hander has been one of the game's top rookies. But now that there are more enhanced scouting reports of him, he'll have to show his ability to make quick adjustments.

Pirates face Braves in twin bill

After a rainout on Sunday, the Pirates will take on the Braves with a doubleheader on Monday at PNC Park. Left-hander Zach Duke will start in Game 1 of the twin bill and right-hander John Van Benschoten will make a spot start in Game 2.

Pirates probable pitcher

Zach Duke

  • LHP
  • (1-2) 4.60 ERA
Pirates: Duke will take the mound after making back-to-back quality starts that appear to have the left-hander on some sort of early-season roll. He has now finished at least seven innings in half of his starts this season, and his sinker has been consistently down in the zone again, something that wasn't so much the case a year ago. Duke will get his second chance of the season against Atlanta on Sunday. He pitched 5 2/3 innings against the Braves in his first start of the season and allowed two earned runs on 10 hits.

Braves' skid continues

Jair Jurrjens pitched well enough to win in the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Pirates, but sometimes one pitch can haunt you. That pitch came in the fifth, when Jurrjens allowed a two-out, bases-loaded double to Freddy Sanchez.

Freddy at the ready

Freddy Sanchez's two-out, bases-clearing double in the fifth inning was just what the Pirates needed, and, it turns out, all they would need. Zach Duke held the Braves scoreless in six sharp innings in the first game of the doubleheader.
