Follow the microphones, and you'll find Andy MacPhail. Baltimore's president of baseball operations is with his team as the Orioles head to Chicago's Wrigley Field, the home of his last employer. MacPhail said that he's looking forward to going home but hoping to avoid becoming a center of attention, a job that may be easier said than done.
Orioles probable pitcher
Jeremy Guthrie
- RHP
- (3-7) 3.51 ERA
Orioles: Guthrie continued his strangely dominant season in his last start, when he went eight strong innings and allowed just one run. Still, he received a no-decision for his efforts. Guthrie hasn't gotten much run support this season, but he's worked into the seventh inning in half of his 16 starts and has allowed two earned runs or less nine times.

Kosuke Fukudome has moved seamlessly from the middle of the order to the leadoff spot, where he'll be hitting again in the series opener vs. the Orioles.
Cubs probable pitcher
Sean Marshall
- LHP
- (0-0) 4.15 ERA
Cubs: This would be Carlos Zambrano's turn in the rotation, but he was placed on the 15-day
disabled list because of a mild strain in his right shoulder. The good news for the Cubs
and Big Z is that there is nothing structurally wrong. Marshall has been starting at
Triple-A Iowa, and in his last outing, he threw seven scoreless innings. He gave up a solo
homer in the eighth, and picked up the win. Marshall made 19 starts last season for the
Cubs.

O's hold off Cubs' rush (39-36) (48-29)
Orioles 7, Cubs 5
The Orioles jumped to a six-run lead, but Jeremy Guthrie gave up a three-run homer in the seventh. That set the wheels in motion, and the Cubs loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth, but the O's hung on for the win.
