Jered Weaver will once again realize his dream of pitching at Dodger Stadium, though it won't be for the Dodgers, the team he grew up rooting for. Instead, Weaver toes the slab for the Angels against the team he grew up rooting for.
Angels probable pitcher
Jered Weaver
- #36 RHP
- (7-7) 4.56 ERA
Angels: Weaver used his competitive instincts as much as his talent to limit the Phillies to one earned run in 5 1/3 challenging innings Sunday. He was in trouble from the start, leaving two runners in scoring position in the first inning by striking out Ryan Howard and Pat Burrell. Effectively using his riding fastball, he struck out six while walking three and yielding four hits. Weaver gets pumped against his hometown Dodgers. He has won all three starts against them with a 2.08 ERA, striking out 16 in 17 1/3 innings. He took his lone Dodger Stadium start with 5 1/3 scoreless innings.

The Dodgers' offensive struggles thus far this season cannot be blamed on first baseman James Loney, who's been especially hot in the month of June as L.A. has climbed back into contention in the National League West.
Dodgers probable pitcher
Chad Billingsley
- #58 RHP
- (6-7) 3.64 ERA
Dodgers: Billingsley was solid in his last outing, pitching 6 1/3 innings and giving up just one run on five hits with three walks and nine strikeouts. It was his first win since beating Cincinnati on May 21. All of his pitches were working, and the right-hander never ran into trouble until he gave up a couple soft base hits in the seventh inning.

Dodgers 1, Angels 0
Starter Jered Weaver and reliever Jose Arredondo did not allow a hit to the Dodgers over eight combined innings, but their shot at the history books was pushed aside when the Angels' offense could not convert any of its five hits into runs.

The Dodgers pulled out a quirky win with dominant pitching, guile and a little bit of luck. The Dodgers were held hitless, but Matt Kemp scored the lone run on two errors and a sac fly, rewarding Chad Billingsley with a victory.
